Game Tester Job Description
• Play through the latest Rockstar games looking for problems/bugs in areas such as graphics, sound, text and gameplay. Superb attention to detail and research skills are a must.
• Be able to complete games on all difficulty levels whilst under pressure and have the ability to pick up and play any genre of game. Knowledge of all the current consoles/handhelds would be an advantage.
• Be able to spot errors, typos and context problems within the in-game text. Candidates should have a natural aptitude for English, and good grades at GCSE and A Level are preferable.
• Be able to report errors and bugs in a clear and concise manner and produce quality documentation when required. Candidates should have a good knowledge of the MS Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
• Be prepared to work long overtime hours when required. We look for applicants who can exhibit a real drive and commitment to their work.
• Be able to fit into a dynamic and fast-paced office atmosphere and communicate well with colleagues and superiors. A friendly, outgoing and open-minded attitude is advantageous.
• Be honest, reliable and hard-working console gamers who are passionate about the games industry, with a superb eye for detail, and who are able to stay focused under pressure.
Salary: £11,200 (Overtime is paid at 1.5 X for evenings and 2.0 X for weekends) Yearly performance related bonus and pay review.

Game Tester
Rockstar Lincoln is Rockstar Games’ main Quality Assurance and Localisation studio. We test and localise all of Rockstar’s titles including the “Grand Theft Auto” series, Max Payne 1 & 2, Warriors, the “Midnight Club” series, Canis Canim Edit and other titles from all the Rockstar Studios worldwide.
Creating these games is a big and costly exercise and we demand the highest quality in the end product. This means a lot of time and effort spent testing the games before they are released into the market place. Game Testers look for and report problems such as game stability, cosmetic issues, game-play problems and difficulty balancing.
The ideal games tester candidate should have an advanced knowledge of various popular genres on different platforms i.e. PlayStation2, PlayStation3, PSP, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, DS and PC. An important aspect is verbal and written communication for example, communicating effectively with foreign language speakers via the telephone and the concise and accurate construction of documents and bug reports.
Applicants must have the following skills • Excellent written & verbal communicative skills • Able to play all games effectively in all difficulty settings and to completion • Knowledgeable on a broad range of games styles and types • Able to write reports in good, clear and accurate English • Able to use word-processors and other office type applications on PC's • Able to sustain high work standards during long overtime hours
